ECA Statement on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the parties of the European Communist Action once again condemn in the strongest terms the barbaric Israeli aggression and the continuous support provided to Israel by the US, NATO and the EU, which have brought nothing but suffering and death to the peoples of the region.
This aggression, which has moved to a new stage of escalation for more than a year, has turned into a genocide aiming to completely suffocate the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank and deprive them of their right to have an independent state. Alongside the genocide in Palestine, we witness a criminal aggression by Israel against the Lebanese and the Syrian peoples.
The power and arrogance of Zionist Israel rests on the full support of the US-NATO-EU and serves the interests of their monopolies. For this reason, the Palestinian people fight not only against the occupying state of Israel, but also against the US-NATO-EU and their plans in the competition over the control of trade and energy routes in the wider Middle East region.
We salute the brave Palestinian people and the Palestinian fighters who are resisting against the occupation and have never surrendered in the face of the atrocities by the occupying state. We also salute the Lebanese people who continue to struggle utilising their deep-rooted resistance and people’s solidarity and have managed to pose big obstacles to Israel's invasion attempts.
In the face of the criminal Israeli aggression and the ongoing resistance of the Palestinian people, our parties:
- Raise the demand for an immediate end to the genocide in Palestine and the brutal Israeli aggression against the Lebanese people and the other peoples of the region. We struggle for an immediate end to the massacre caused by Israel’s barbaric attacks and the inhumane blockade, which denies the Palestinian people access to basic needs such as water, food, medicine and health care, the ban on UNRWA and the obstruction of humanitarian aid.
- Continue to call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the other regions.
- Reiterate that they will continue to denounce the involvement policies of governments in the slaughterhouse of war in the Middle East and their covert or explicit relations with Israel. All trade relations that sustain Israel economically and the direct or indirect supply of arms, fuel and technical equipment to the Israeli occupation army must be ended.
- Defend the right of the Palestinian people to a free homeland, to be masters in their own land, to establish and recognise an independent Palestinian state on the borders established before 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside Israel. Demand the cessation and dissolution of the illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories, the release of prisoners in Israeli jails and the return of refugees to their homes in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
- Express support for the Palestinian and Lebanese communists, the militants of the Communist Party of Israel and all the fighters of the people who are waging a vital struggle of resistance under very difficult conditions. Declare that they will act with the responsibility to strengthen international solidarity against the genocide in Palestine.
- Salute the mass demonstrations organised all over the world in solidarity with the Palestinian people and the militant initiatives of trade unions in ports, railways etc. which block shipments of arms and ammunition destined for the war. Invite all the peoples of the world to stand up against Israeli aggression and the dangerous plans and competition of the imperialists in the Middle East.
