Contribution of the Communist Party of Sweden
SKP contribution to ECA-Paris conference
Comrades, first and foremost the communist party of Sweden would like to thank KKE and PCRF for arranging this meeting. The labour question should be one of the most important if not the most important issue in every communist party. Our contribution is focused on
exchanging our experiences of the Swedish labour and the role that our party play in the field.
Our gathering today is not just a meeting; it’s a call to action. As members of the Communist Party of Sweden, we play a vital role in pushing back against the injustices faced by our comrades. Our experiences shape our perspectives, and we must recognize that the challenges we face are opportunities to solidify our revolutionary spirit and work toward lasting change.
Today, we must critically evaluate the current political landscape and its implications for the working class. Capitalism presents numerous contradictions, resulting in economic inequalities, social unrest, and accumulating crises. As revolutionary leaders, it's our
obligation to elevate the voices of the marginalized and inspire an awareness among the working class that transcends passive acceptance to cultivate active resistance.
While Sweden is often seen as a beacon of progress, we must dissect how our systems operate under an imperialist framework. The welfare state-often praised for providing essential support-can also perpetuate structural inequalities that benefit a privileged few at the expense of many. Confronting these uncomfortable truths is crucial as we ensure our struggle addresses both domestic and global injustices. Our welfare system can indeed act as a double-edged sword. While it provides necessary aid, it may also foster complacency among workers.
The Swedish masses often celebrate the welfare state as a triumph of social democracy, but we must also recognize it as a tool for control. The welfare system can pacify the working class, making us complacent in the face of deeper systemic inequalities. It’s a bone thrown at us while the real issues are left unaddressed. We must encourage a class-conscious movement that does not settle for band-aids but instead strives for the invasive changes required for true liberation-one that challenges the foundations of the system rather than merely accepting its offerings. Instilling a sense of urgency is vital, emphasizing that real change requires sustained effort and dedication.
Swedish workers today face significant challenges: job insecurity, stagnant wages, and the threat of automation. Many are burdened by rising living costs and an increasingly precarious job market. As revolutionaries, we must rise to these challenges, offering solutions and
solidarity to empower our comrades.
SKP, despite being a smaller party, carries the potential for profound impact. This gives us the opportunity to forge deep connections within our communities, cultivating a strong internal culture that values each member's contributions. Our grassroots activism can position us as a significant force for change, enabling us to guide our comrades toward meaningful action.
Lenin emphasized the importance of strategic alliances, but we must act carefully.
Collaborating with unions and mass organizations can enhance our impact, but we must remain vigilant against opportunism. History shows that aligning with groups without a shared commitment to revolution can dilute our message and compromise our goals. Timing
and context matter; we must ensure that alliances we pursue are built on mutual respect for our fundamental values and long-term objectives. As we reflect on our objectives, a few key recommendations emerge. First, we must invest in political education for our members, creating a foundation of knowledge that empowers them to act decisively. Strengthening our local organizations will cultivate vibrant communities of engagement, ensuring every comrade feels valued and inspired to lead.
In conclusion, our mission as the SKP is clear. We must confront the challenges posed by a welfare state that masks imperialism, and we must be cautious when forming alliances. We should take heed of Lenin's warnings against opportunism. Let us not rush into partnerships that may divert us from our revolutionary path. By igniting the spirit of resistance among our comrades, we can work towards a future where justice and equality prevail for all."
